How to read and type Korean on the computer

1. Windows - Can read Korean but can't type

Right click on web -> Encoding -> Korean


*** Sometimes you should select More to find Korean ***




2. Windows XP/ Windows 2000 -
Korean IME

a) Open control panel

b) Open
Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options

Click on the picture to enlarge it.

c) Click on languages tab and then check Install files for East Asian languages

d) Computer will be restarted

e) Click on details in
Text services and input languages section

Click on the picture to enlarge it.

f) Click on Add

Click on the picture to enlarge it.

g) Select Korean for Input language:,

and also select
Korean Input System (IME 2002) for Keyboard layout/IME

h)
now you are ready to read and type Korean.

*** Use Alt key to alternate between Korean and English ***



3. Mac OS X (from 10.1)


a) Click on system preferences

b) Click on software update

c) Select Korean language support

d) Install it after downloading is done
